IN DANAG AND LOVING IT

We are in Danang, a coastal city in Central Vietnam. Before I say anything else I want to say how super lucky we have been with the weather. In the past week there have been two powerful typhoons, and they have swept past our path and are now in North Vietnam going towards China. Many many trips up north are called off and Hanoi hotels are bursting with tourists from cancelled trips trying to find beds. We missed it all.

The beach in Danang is stunning. It is great when you travel with modest expectations to have these happy surprises. This beach goes down with my best beach memories from Plettenberg Bay and Zipolite. Wow. We spent the whole day jumping in the waves with Lili.

Our bench in Danang. These photos show us learning about the locals fishing off the beach. Two boys ran out with a huge net. They are in the centre of this photo if you look closely.

Then they walk in opposite directions and pull the net open.

This is quite a bit later - they walked apart, and are now slowly closing the net. They both have a loop around their ankles for the bottom of the net and the top of the net in their hands.

Here the net is getting closer.

No fish this time! Now they are gathering the net for the next try.

Ready for the next try!

Ready for the next try!

... but they decided to move location.
