So here we are at Auroville in India. It is so fantastic. It is actually so very fantastic that we do not even have wifi. So if you have written to me please be patient it may take a little time before I can reply.
We are staying at a treehouse with no walls, the cool breezes flow through our mosquito net as we sleep. We help with the hosts permaculture and building projects, Lili runs around with the local kids and loves every minute of it. She tells us she goes 'scavenging' and comes back happily chewing a Starfruit. She goes to see the horses right next to our compound every day. We rented a motorbike and zoom around the red earth roads getting dusty like everyone else.
The monsoons didn't really come so it might still rain a bit. I will keep you posted.
Update 12 December: it is pouring. There was a cyclone on the North side of Chennai and the airport is closed. Trees got uprooted and roofs flew off. We are getting generous amounts of rain as side effects. Below you can see our digs. I will let you know how the thatch roof holds in 36 hours of rain!
Update 15 December: we are fine. The rain was pretty heavy for one day (which was soooo needed for all the crops) and we had a pretty humid night. But the low overhangs of the thatched roof proved super well designed for the circumstances as they kept all the rain outside! It was a night to remember for all of us though.
