The cutest little foal was born yesterday at the horse ranch. The Mom is called Coqueta but the baby horse has no name yet. I think he should be called Equinox - born on March 21 and being equine. I actually thought that was a really brilliant name but Lili thinks it sounds dumb. She is now busy thinking of better names. And while she is at it I am not so sure it is our business to name this horse anyways...
But it sure is super cute and we had a lovely time visiting it this morning.
Hello world!
Horses carry their babies for eleven months, that is even longer than people. I never knew that. And when the foal is born, it learns to stand up in about an hour, and normally they can run in a few hours. I guess these were all indispensable qualities for wild horses on the go.
Lili also taught me some terminology: the baby horse is a foal - a male foal is a colt - and when it gets to one year old it is called a yearling.
Guess who was excited to see the baby?
Dante, Linda and the black hen also had a visitation.
Mama milk is best!
And then a little snooze.
