BOTANICAL GARDEN

This post is a bit out of sequence but no matter. We went to the Puerto Vallarta botanical gardens last week with Linda. It is maybe a twenty minute bus ride from where we are - inland past Boca de Tomatlan.

The place is an old cattle ranch with a beautiful new restaurant and gift shop building with a view. Linda treated us to a nice lunch and I had an avocado salad - I can't get over how delicious the avocados are in Mexico.

Lili made a collage of some of the plants and flowers we saw. The orchids are amazing here and we also saw vanilla vines - Mexico and Madagascar are the two largest producers on vanilla.

There are hikes to the river below and we took 'the jungle route' - it was classified as Black Diamond and we were stumbling a bit along the way. But the river was worth the difficult hike - it was so lovely to swim in it. We spent probably the same amount of time in the river as we did in the gardens, if not more. It all made a great day.
