21 SPAYS AND NEUTERS IN A DAY

Yes - on our second clinic day at Sayulitanimals, a total of 21 animals got operated on. It feels really good to be able to help at this special place, and again our day was filled with learning and making more friends.

Holding puppies is the best! Note Lili's shirt in this picture. Shortly after this she was 'marked' by a runny instalment of puppy poo. So for the rest of the day she wore a scrub shirt like a real healthcare pro.

HELPING OUT AT SAYULITANIMALS

Today Lili and I volunteered for the whole day at Sayulitanimals, a spay and neuter clinic. It was a great experience for both of us, learning about animal care and veterinary medicine. In all, about twenty surgeries were completed today, as well as dog washing, rabies shots, flea treatments and more. We got to know Dr. Grethel the Mexican staff vet and Dr. Rob, a volunteer vet from Vancouver Island, as well as regular volunteers Karen and Cynthia. Everyone was so gracious and welcoming of us, and Lili got to help and watch right at surgery. How cool is that?

We will definitely go back next week.

The day started with scooping poo. It's a good job to do and Lili cleaned the entire yard.

Here Dr. Rob is looking for a vein in a chihuahua. He needed a bit more anesthetic since after neutering he also had some teeth taken out.  There are no exam lights so Karen used her phone flashlight.
