FAMILY IN ITALY

We had so many lovely moments with family in Torino. Lili has two cousins: Amedeo who is 24 and currently in medical school - soon it will be time to choose a specialization; and Giuliano who is 19 and will become a composer - he has already completed the first year of Conservatory while still in high school.

It has been seven years since Lili saw his cousins last and obviously she did not remember much from that encounter. This time there was time to create many new memories!

Believe it or not we went to have some sushi in Torino and it was great. Here we are with our bellies full! Lidia with Lili, Manuel, Giuliano, Sonia, Amedeo and Dante.

Amedeo's girlfriend Sonia was a new acquaintance for us and as she is a language major it was very easy for all of us to communicate.

My aunt Eeva came from Finland to join us in Torino for a few days and as she is an enthusiast of any things Italian (including language) she was like a fish in water right away.

We threw a big dinner get together one evening as we had rented a spacious apartment in the old centre of Torino, and also Dante's cousins Susanna and Simonetta came to meet us. Susanna's daughter Amarilli is now 16, a young lady. Happy eating and chatting went on till late.

I am attaching a few images of the various family things we did.

Simonetta with Lili. Did I mention that pastries in Torino are to die for?

FAMILY PICS - PUERTO VALLARTA

Ok I have received a request to post more family pictures. Like pictures that would show Dante or me as well. Or both of us with Lili. So I am happy to post these pictures fresh off the hard drive - from Puerto Vallarta Malecon today. It is Linda's last evening in Mexico and we went out for a nice sit down dinner.

Getting ready to go out for Linda's last-night-in-Mexico dinner. You can see that both Lili and I have decided to accentuate our awesome tans with trendy and elegant pink lipstick. (As an aside, my make-up department was rendered completely ineffective by the loss of my make-up bag somewhere on this trip. I think it was in Hong Kong but Dante thinks I left it in Vietnam. Who knows? Either way, the consequence was that I had no make up of any kind, at all, and that of course is a no go for any attractive, modern, globe trotting mother-daughter duo n'est-ce-pas? So, I invested a few baht into hot pink lipstick in Thailand and also picked up a mascara at the local Seven-11 in Khao Lak. And we were back on the tracks, so to say.) For those who are wondering about our relatively solemn looks in this photo, you should know that Lili instructed me to look into the camera with a sullen 'femme fatale' air. She said she wanted this photo to be like 'real models'. Dante did not get the memo on time I think.

Here we are walking to dinner. Lili, Linda and Dante are just about to cross the Cuale river.

And here we are on the Malecon eating very very good Italian food. (Yes we have had Mexican food almost every day.) It was time for pasta, and dessert was off camera...
